![]() Our decision will always come down to whether we believe that they are a match. This isn’t a reflection of their dog ownership skills, nor how we feel about them personally. However, we have made a promise not to compromise on our commitment and we have to turn them down. Sometimes well-intentioned people put their friends in touch with us, sometimes we are approached by friends or even family in relation to a particular dog. Each dog can have vastly different needs from the next and every home is different. Our primary criterion in order to achieve this is whether that home is a good match for that dog. ![]() When we take on a dog, we make a commitment both to that dog and the former owners of that dog to find this fur-kid their perfect forever home. So we want to take the time to explain something. It’s something that really upsets us, but unfortunately it comes with the territory of what we do. See some of our previous rescues and keep up with the status of our current rescues by joining here: Should the meet and greet end favourably, you may pay the adoption fee, sign the paperwork and take the pet on a two week trial during which time you will be asked to provide regular updates.ĭuring this trial period the pet remains the property of Onyx Rescue and adoption will only be finalised following a successful trial. Should this be successful you will be invited to a meet and greet and asked to send photos of your property. If your application seems promising you will be contacted for a telephone interview. All applicants will receive a response - but it won’t be an immediate one. It may take up to four weeks to process the applications. Please provide AS MUCH detail as possible to increase your chances of a successful application. Please tell us what your dog’s sleeping arrangements will be as well as what you plan to do with your dog if you go away on holidays. If you think you foot the bill and would revel in all her devotion and love please see the application instructions below. ![]() We have agreed to fulfil this request.ĭo you have to the inclination to make a furry family member the centre-point of your every day? Do you enjoy having your dog join you on daily adventures followed by nightly snuggles? Peanut would like to make up for lost time in discovering the world and all its excitement and goodness. Peanut has requested a home in which her people are home most of the time as Cavaliers do not often cope well being apart from their owners for long. Likewise she would do well as a single dog with people who have a wealth of time to devote to her development. Peanut is very good with other dogs and would delight in having a confident and gentle canine companion to show her the ropes. Therefore this girl will go to a cat and child free household where she will have the best chance of thriving. Further, Cats naturally use a lot of eye contact which is very intimidating to dogs. ![]() This cannot be expected of small children and nor should it be. She will need a confident, savvy and gentle leader to assist with her continued integration.įortunately her natural inclination to gravitate towards people has assisted her coming out of her shell with strangers but she will still need a measured approach at interaction to enhance her confidence. Peanut has had a hermetic past and has been underexposed to the wider-world with all its crazy nuances that we take for granted. She will often do these whilst standing on her hind legs like an otter. We can’t decide though whether that’s the cutest thing about her or whether it’s the tiny, squeaky mouse noises she makes when she’s excited to see you. Even when she’s fast asleep and she hears your voice her metronome will begin. This squee-worthy pupper is as gentle as a lamb and never stops wagging her tail. This girl’s name suits her perfectly as she takes the form of a little brown peanut when she wags her whole stumpy-legged body. Introducing the cutest of cute, the esteemed and magnificent Peanut - a four year old ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
